Our Story
We've passionately shared the captivating history of Sweden and the pretty Swedish countryside for over 15 years.
Our founder Lise's deep love for her local rural Stockholm community of Orkesta ignited a mission to connect explorers from around the world with the countryside of Stockholm. Our passion is to create immersive and educational tours that combine the beauty of the northern Stockholm region with our guides' great knowledge of Swedish history and culture.
From humble beginnings, we've meticulously crafted factual and humanistic history tours that bring bygone eras to life. Led by certified guides, our tours whisk you through medieval towns, ancient church ruins, Viking sights, and serene landscapes that hold the echoes of centuries.

Our Values
Educational tourism
Our tours are designed to educate culturally interested guests in the history and culture of Sweden. We do this with a sense of humor and guides' who deliver a factual view of history with space for personal interpretations and a sense of humor when it is appropriate.
Anti-mass tourism
Our tours are small group and we have hundreds of passionate guests every single year. We would like to grow, but not beyond what would be sustainable for our local communities in Northern Stockholm. We don't want our Viking sights to be run over with people like Stonehenge is. We want guests to visit sites that are exciting and historically important, but yet calm and relaxing to be at. Usually we are the only people at the locations, sometimes joined by a few locals hanging out by the lake or immersing themselves in their own history.
Local community development
Our long term vision is to integrate STOEX with more and more local partners, to create a brand that is powerful enough to contribute to local community development on a large scale. At the moment our tours visit local towns and villages where guests can purchase local food, eat out and buy crafts at independent shops that are owned by local residents.
